Recently, I gave up the fight, both about politics and about the nasty tone of some on social media. No, I'm not retreating to a "safe space," unless you measure it by one promise from Jesus...."the peace that passeth all understanding."( Phillipians 4:17) Here's what I mean.I cannot by myself elect a President of the United States. I have no idea what God wants, except to do my civil duty, that is, vote, to pray for my leaders, to live a life worthy of Him, and teach others about salvation,no matter what is going on.That no matter the outcome, or how dark and evil human beings, and the spiritual entities that feed the darkness become, I serve God the Creator. So I can just...watch with interest.I have figured out that my patriotism, like so many other isms (socialism atheism, etc) is pretty much setting up an idol in my life. That I belong to God first. I was taught this was the best country on earth, that we were blessed beyond measure...which is just stealing the actual promises to Israel, the only people and kingdom God ever had a covenant with, which makes the US just another heathen nation. (heathen means non Jewish. That's it.) We are as well a pagan nation. We worship a multitude of gods, the God of Israel being the only one being shunned at the moment. We believe any sexual practice is good ( too many pagan gods to list), always fulfilling our own needs first, gaining wealth to have control ( Mammon) and letting anything and anyone pay our debt in blood ( Molech --child sacrifice.) we call God Abba-daddy ( Bel , Ba'al,and his later incarnation, Allah) we expect everyone around us to have the same beliefs..but most of America believes that humans are good (humanism) and can make a better world, that anyone outside the tribe is not to be trusted ( this has broken down to race, religion, and other groupings. Evangelical Christians seem to top the list as most hated, even by other Christians). We worship Gaia and have decided humans are pests upon Mother Earth and need to be regulated. We think we are nothing more than an accident (Darwinism) and therefore, no aspect of a spiritual life matters (atheism.) Any of our neighbors can have any MIX of these beliefs, and think nothing of it. Without some common morals and ethics ( think...entering WWII, and how we pulled together) there is no way to have civil discourse, never mind a normal election cycle. Everyone wants the candidate who is going to give them something, or punish their "enemies." The idea of actual tolerance is far, far away.I do not know if God will give this nation breathing space, or let us whimper into our safe spaces, continue to consider physical needs and pleasures more important than sanity., until we are totally captive to our government and unable to lift a hand for ourselves. We don;t need a crisis to topple us, any more. It is already done. Christians are living in a space where we think..just vote for the right guy and everything will be OK. Nothing is further from the truth. Our only safety is and always has been the promises of Jesus Christ.l wish to point out that, far from consensus and tolerance of Christianity, we live in a far different place than we thought..and those without Christ feel justified, correct, good about themselves, and find our obstinate stance of One Way, One God, to be offensive. They aren't going to change, unless they meet up with Certain Personage. as the Facebook memes say, deal with it. We outlasted Rome, we can survive this. This current cycle of nastiness is driven more by bullying tactics and just plain meanness. Even Christians will post stupid articles about killing off anyone who offends us. Everyone picks a "side" and we treat politics like a football game. Therefore, it is on a war basis. I do not wish to discourage voting. Just to say...if all choices stink, use that write in function. vote for local issues no matter what. I am not saying to leave all social media. Just remember, if you were talking to people in person, they wouldn't say most of what they will say online. the digital wall of anonymity makes many people cruel; bullies. We live in this fantasy world in social media, news reporting, education, and lawmaking. (only make laws that are about unimportant things. ignore things like,oh, the budget, possible war in the middle east, people being savagely murdered all over the world, the rates of mental illness and drug addiction in the US...you know, real problems.) Enter prophecy. Prophecy is a huge part of the Bible.. 27% I believe, and much of it is fulfilled. Yet not even Christians look at prophecy if they can avoid it. If they do, they are all fighting about it, making predictions of the End Times and claiming only their view is right ,writing books to scare the public and make money., and not bothering to explain anything to everyone else. Prophecy, fulfilled and yet to be fulfilled, is a powerful tool in evangelism, it shows the nature and character of God, it explains the plan. It proves God is righteous in calling us sinners. And it is considered too hot a potato for most churches. But some groups..and I do not wish to offend any Mormon who happens to read this, and I understand the Mormon church has downplayed or discredited this prophecy.. but when you get to a circus sideshow and misuse of Bible prophecy, all to further the ends of one politician WHO DID NOT DENOUNCE IT EVEN THOUGH HE IS SUPPOSED TO BE A CHRISTIAN..I have problems with that. Joseph Smith supposed prophesied what is called the White Horse Prophecy in 1863. He had tried to get help in Washington for his fledgling church. it was a wasted trip. Here it is Ehat & Cook, Words of Joseph Smith, 6 May 1843 Note, p. 279 According to the so-called "White Horse Prophecy," the U.S. Constitution will be hanging by a thread and a church elder from Zion will ride in on a metaphorical white horse and save it. http://www.utlm.org/onlineresources/whitehorseprophecy.htm Yes, it did make my hair stand on end. How far does this go? one Elder, or all the men who are Mormons coming in to rule the country? let me show you why it upset me. We have a rider in Revelation who does what this prophecy says. He rides in on a white horse. he makes peace with Israel. And he is a judgement from God.Yes, he is Satan;s tool, but God lets him come to power....think about that. Revelation 6;1-2 And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see. 2And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer. So the White Horse prophecy is twisted out of all recognition from its Biblical source , and then further twisted by a "talking head" to point to a political candidate as the ONE. The white rider of Revelation is no white hat folks. His hat is very very black. The second white rider of Revelation is none other than Jesus Christ himself. And I do not believe Ted Cruz is Jesus Christ.I hope he will be in the cloud of witnesses though!( those who return with Jesus) Take social media, and politics, with a grain of salt. Get away from the newscasts and the computers and breathe deep of the world you live in. Quit letting the digital age make you forget to LIVE. It's all in God's plan anyway! |
