Matthew 15:21-28 21Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, "LORD, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly." 23Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, "Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us." 24He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel." 25The woman came and knelt before him. "LORD, help me!" she said. 26He replied, "It is not right to take the children's bread and toss it to the dogs." 27"Yes it is, LORD," she said. "Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master's table." 28Then Jesus said to her, "Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted." And her daughter was healed at that moment. A gentile. a dog , in Jewish terms A Jewish messiah. what will happen? We should take great comfort from this passage. Gentiles apparently had dogs and puppies in their houses,Jews did not. Yes Jesus did not point out this fact to her .Her masterful and desperate turning of His words moved Him to proclaim she had great faith. He had left the Pharisees and pointedly went to a gentile area.clean/unclean. there's a message for you. was this just a lesson to the Jews standing nearby? He also healed a centurion's servant. Or a harbinger of the greater things to come? It just goes to show, anyone can come to our Savior. Even if the world says you aren;t good enough. You are a sinner, a disgrace. Romans 10:9 9That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the LORD Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Free. salvation is free. I hope this message reaches someone who needs to hear it. |
