Jesus was a Palestinian.
read your history books, Israel was called Judea in Jesus's time by the Romans, Israel by Jews. After the Bar Cochba revolt in 135 AD, the Romans renamed the area Palestine ( from the root Phillistines, a noted enemy of Israel) to further insult the rebellious Jewish people. There were no Palestinians until the current political era. Further, Jesus was able to enter the Temple grounds as both a twelve year old and a thirty something, meaning he was recognized as a Jew. By contrast, Paul was arrested for supposedly bringing non-Jewish men into the temple area. Jesus was a terrorist Oh please, the charges that the Romans came up with were that he said he was the King of the Jews, which is treason. He was never charged with any other crime.. Herod Tetrarch was their Jewish leader at the time, the Romans decided who could be King. They divided the Kingdom into four areas after Herod the Great, thus the term Tetrarch. Jews killed Jesus Please read above. While they rejected him as Messiah, both the Son of Joseph messiah and the Son of David messiah ( both the suffering messiah who would take on the iniquities of the people... Obadiah 1-18 and Isaiah 53...and the future King of the line of David... Daniel 17),and certainly betrayed him into Roman hands ( or as Caiaphas said, better that one man should die for the nation...John 18) It was a Roman execution. Given the Jewish holiday, and the tumult of Jerusalem at the time, they did allow the body to be removed quickly. As such, it arrived unbroken to the tomb (to hurry death the Romans would break the convict's legs so they could not draw up and take a breath.) God is done with Israel. Israel is once again a nation,in one day as prophesied (Isaiah 66:8) after almost 2000 years I can understand Christians thinking they had replaced Jews, for those long millennia..but that excuse has been upended.God said that when they came back they would permanently inherit the land, (Deuteronomy 30 1-5 is a good place to start) and eventually be spiritually reborn as well. They will accept their Messiah.(of course Jews and Christians disagree about who he is.) The rock of salvation Is NOT Peter, as so many people assume. It Is the Life, Death and Resurrection of Jesus. He speaks to Peter, formerly Simon Peter, telling him the Holy Spirit has revealed who Jesus is to him. THEN he refers to the rock, which is his own life death and resurrection. This is petra, or a large or massive stone.yes, there is a place in Jordon names Petra. ' The name Peter is a word play on rock. a little rock.a stone.Cephas.Petros. This does in fact mean Jesus claimed to be the Son of God, the Passover Lamb, a sacrifice for the sin of mankind, sinless himself. Further the name for Jesus' profession is Tekton, Builder, could be a carpenter or stone mason. No wonder he talked about stone so much. Rock on , My Savior! |
